Airline Route Control

Seeing L2B (Look-to-Book) ratios spike, or running routes that simply don't need to be searched? Airline Route Control lets you strategically manage traffic from specific sales channels by blocking flight searches on chosen routes for a set period — so you maximize your API-call efficiency and can measure the impact afterward.

What Route Control Does

With Route Control you can block unnecessary search traffic (Looks) per sales channel, and then review the results in a report — including how much API-call volume you saved and how the block affected your sales.

Before You Begin

Prerequisites

Role & permissions:

Albus Admins can assign any user as a report-notification recipient.

Albus Users can set notifications for themselves only.

Route input limits: You can specify routes by Region, Country, or City/Airport — up to 10 routes per control setting.

Start your block setup

From Aggregator → Airline Route Control, click [Create]. Choose the airline to control and the Sales Branch (sales channel) the setting applies to.

Set the target routes and period

Control Period: Set the start and end dates for the block.

Active: Set this to ON to activate the block immediately.

Route Setting: Enter origins and destinations by Region, Country, or City/Airport — up to 10 routes per setting.

Set up report notifications

Turn on Notification to be alerted when an impact-analysis report is generated. When you assign recipients, an email is sent at 04:00 UTC on each report's availability date — one for the Mid-term report and one for the Final report (two separate sends, not a single combined email).

Monitor the control status

After saving, check the status in the list:

Status	Meaning
Scheduled	Waiting — the control period hasn't started yet.
Ongoing	The route block is currently active.
Expired	The control period has ended (cannot be reactivated).
Unavailable	The control is deactivated (Off).

Real-time blocking: As soon as you save, HaloSync's API immediately evaluates whether the route block is Ongoing and blocks API requests to the airline accordingly. For any one-way, round-trip, or multi-city itinerary search that includes a blocked route, that airline is excluded from the search results.

End a control early if you need to

An Ongoing control can be ended immediately, any time before its end date. Note that an Expired setting cannot have its period changed or be reactivated.

TIP

Check the change history: Curious when a setting changed and who changed it? Open the [History] button on the detail page.

Measure the effect: Compare the report's sales-decline figures against its L2B-improvement numbers to build a sharper route-control strategy next time.
